Prof. Marysia P. Tiongco-Recto

Prof Marysia P. Tiongco-Recto, M.D. FPPS, FPSAAI Prof Recto is professor in University of the Philippines at Philippine General Hospital. She is associated with renowned hospitals and medical centers in Pediatrics department such as Asian Hospital and Medical Center as Section head and active staff and Section of Allergy and Immunology Makati Medical Center as Associate Active Staff. She is also immediate President and Board Member, Philippine Society of Allergy Asthma and Immunology. She is working as an active member in various renowned organisations including COVID Vaccine Task Force PSAAI; Editor-in Chief, PSAAI Task force on Immunodulators for moderate and severe Covid Cytokine storm; European Academy of Allergy and clinical Immunology; Asia Pacific Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Clinical immunology and as an affiliate member in American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. Prof Recto is a silver medalist and has also been awarded the most outstanding intern during her doctorate degree in medicine at University of the Philippines, College of Medicine, Manila. She has extensive clinical and educational experience in pediatrics with subspeciality in child and adult allergy and clinical immunology. Her current research work focusses on ‘Biochemical and immunologic characterization and cross- reactivity studies of allergenic local pollen extracts’. She has an extraordinary research journey which includes 51 published including manuscripts on role of probiotics in the prevention of atopic disease and atopic dermatitis in infants; 29 unpublished primary and co-authored articles, 53 academics/CME attendance including a session on microbiome, 78 speaking engagements at different congresses including a session on “prebiotics and probiotics” and 2 professorial chair lectures. She is currently associated as an alumna at UP Association of Biology Majors; as a member at The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, Phi Lambda Delta Sororfty, UP-PGH and UP Medical Alumnae Association; and as a fellow at Philippine Pediatric Society and Philippine Society of Asthma, Allergology And Immunology.
